What is special about the straight floor Varvage?

Until we start growing trees square and straight, they will always give us floorboards of variable lengths and widths. We break the traditional, monotonous pattern by making the differences match. Varvage is a hardwood flooring produced in mixed widths of 180 mm, 210 mm and 240 mm. The lengths of Varvage are 1000 mm (3.25’) – 2900 mm(114.17’’). What are the available wood types?

Varvage is available in Oak Select, Natural and Rustic. By special order, we also offer Varvage in Ash Select and Natural. For special orders, please contact our sales team.

Can I buy Varvage unfinished?

Yes, Varvage as well as Bolefloor and Curv8 are available unfinished. Unfinished flooring should be lightly sanded with 150 grit paper after installation for better oil or lacquer performance.

Can I use Varvage on floor heating?

All our engineered floors are suitable for using on water based floor heating systems. The engineered floors are not warranted for using on electric floor heating systems.

How to install Varvage?

All of our floors are connected using the tongue and groove method. The factory recommendation is to install the floor glued down. However Bole floors have been and can be installed in different ways. Without knowing the climate conditions, building manners, materials, humidity and temperature in the premises, we strongly recommend to consult with your local building engineers and installers to find the most suitable option for installation, ensuring that you will have a beautiful flooring for many decades ahead.

How to maintain the floor?

Following the installation, the flooring should be finished with a top coat. The longevity and durability of your hardwood floors can be preserved with routine cleaning and proper maintenance. When routine cleaning no longer restores the floor’s shine, it’s time to recoat the surface. The necessary frequency for recoating the surface depends on the volume of foot traffic on the floor. As we use Osmo oils for finishing, we also recommend their maintenance products.

There has always existed a difference of opinion between human and nature, with compromises being a rare exception. Until we start growing trees square and straight they will always give us floorboards of variable lengths and widths. We can utilise this variety with minimal waste, producing more floors per forest.

Using our experience from Bolefloor on material saving we perfectly match various widths and lengths of boards. By breaking the monotonous, repeating patterns found in a traditional floor, we are able to make a unique, aesthetically pleasing and visually interesting floor.

Varvage is produced in mixed widths of 180 mm (7”), 210 mm (8.25”) and 240 mm (9.5”). Every order contains about 1/3 of each width per number of rows. The lengths of Varvage are 1000 mm (3.25’) – 2995 mm (117.9’). About 70% of the order is supplied in lengths longer than 2000 mm (6.5′).
